Labelmaker UPM Raflatac opens plant in Illinois, April 4th 2008

A Finnish manufacturer of self-adhesive labels has opened a $100 million manufacturing plant in Dixon, Ill., setting up a Midwestern hub as part of a $270 million global expansion program.

UPM Raflatac said Thursday that the Dixon facility covers 60 acres and will employ 180 people. The company makes self-adhesive labels for consumer packaging and mail and prints labels with bar codes and radio-frequency identification, or RFID, chips that are used for inventory and shipping.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin joined company executives and other dignitaries in a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the newest milestone for Gestamp West Virginia. The automotive stamping plant in South Charleston is now officially in operation. Gestamp announced its intention to move into the formerly-shuttered plant in April 2012 and started small scale cold line product production by September.

webastoOn November 14th 2012 Governor Steve Beshear announced that Webasto Sunroof Systems Inc. plans to expand manufacturing operations in Lexington, creating 65 new, full-time jobs and investing $10 million in the Commonwealth. Gov. Beshear met to discuss the potential project with Webasto officials this summer during an economic development trip to Germany.

"It's outstanding to see Webasto bring 65 new jobs and a $10 million investment to Lexington," said Gov. Beshear. "Through its rich history, Webasto has faced adversity, persevered through difficult economic times and emerged successful and stronger. This is an exciting time for the company, and a period when Kentucky's automotive industry is moving forward and helping drive the economy in the right direction."

GekaBrushGeka Brush GmbH chooses Illinois for its US manufacturing plant.

GEKA BRUSH , a German company that specializes in the production of premium brushes and applicators for the cosmetic industry, has chosen Elgin , Illinois for its new manufacturing plant. The company plans to invest €11.5 million which will result in 88 new jobs for the Elgin area. Geka Brush GmbH selected Illinois on the basis of skilled labour. Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs provided incentives in the region of $1.1 million towards the project.
